About Us

Who we are
The Chemistry Graduate Student Organization (CGSO) consists of graduate students from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas Tech University. We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds to encourage the exchange of new ideas across all areas of chemistry. We recognize that pursuing graduate studies can be challenging, and there may be times when it feels overwhelming. However, by collaborating and fostering knowledge-sharing through engaging group activities and department-wide unity, we can make this journey smoother in the years ahead.

What we do
We host a variety of events and socials specifically tailored for graduate students at Texas Tech University. These gatherings provide opportunities for networking, sharing experiences, and building connections within our academic community. In addition to our internal activities, we actively engage in volunteer initiatives aimed at increasing science literacy within our local community. By participating in outreach programs and educational events, we contribute to spreading knowledge and enthusiasm for science beyond the university walls. To stay informed about our upcoming events, activities, and accomplishments, be sure to follow us on social media. Join our online community and connect with fellow graduate students passionate about chemistry and scientific exploration!

How do I join?
Attend one of our monthly meetings at the beginning of the semester and become a part of our community! Afterwards, contribute semester dues of $25, which help cover the cost of food provided during our meetings.
